Based around its capital, Southern Tasmania is blessed with incredible diversity in one area. From the hub of Hobart, five touring routes take you out of the city to several regions, each with its own distinct flavour, blending history and heritage, wilderness, food and wine. There’s the Derwent River trail which leads to the rugged West Coast, or the pristine beaches of the East Coast, with national parks, historic penal settlement and boutique vineyards. You can take a trip back in time along the Heritage Highway, a network of country roads, rolling farmlands and sleepy villages, hit the Huon Trail with its waterways and wilderness, art, craft, orchards and vineyards, or dig up our convict past at Port Arthur and Richmond Village.
